Drought performance for sunny, active lawns

TifTuf is a fine-textured hybrid Bermuda developed at the University of Georgia and selected through long-term drought testing. It is a strong option when you want an attractive summer lawn that handles activity and makes thoughtful use of irrigation.

What makes TifTuf Bermuda different?

The Turfgrass Group reports lower water use than Tifway in controlled drought trials. That distinction is useful when comparing the two, but it is not a promised percentage reduction for your property. Soil, rainfall and irrigation coverage still shape the result.

Living with this lawn in the Carolinas

Plan for full sun, frequent summer mowing and brown winter dormancy. NC State recommends roughly 1–2 inches with a rotary mower, or ¾–1 inch with a reel mower on a level surface. Match the height to the supplied cultivar and avoid scalping. Established Bermuda tolerates use and repairs actively in warm weather; keep heavy traffic off new sod until rooted.

New sod needs prompt watering and moist soil beneath the pieces while roots grow. As the sod anchors, water less often and more deeply. Our care guide explains the checks rather than prescribing one timer setting for every yard.
